Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have built one of the most exciting rivalries in modern tennis, facing each other several times over the past few years. Recently, Alcaraz joked about it in a lighthearted way, saying he’s been seeing Sinner more often than his own mother.
Alcaraz and Sinner have faced each other 15 times over the past five years, with five of those clashes coming in 2025 alone. The Spaniard currently leads their head-to-head 10-5 and has won four of their five encounters this season, including their memorable showdown in the French Open final.
Both players are currently in Turin for the ATP Finals, and before kicking off their campaigns, they sat down for a joint interview. When asked if they’d seen enough of each other this season, Carlos Alcaraz jokingly replied that he’s been seeing Jannik Sinner more than his own mother.
"I said in the USOpen that i’m seeing him more than my mom, actually. But I mean, I never get tired of seeing him," Alcaraz said.
Sinner then chimed in, saying that meeting so often is both good and bad, but added that they’re always “very happy” to see each other:
"It’s good and bad, you know? It’s kinda both but we are very happy to see each other."
Notably, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner also faced each other in the final of the ‘Six Kings Slam’ in October, where the Italian came out on top, repeating last year’s result. However, since it was an exhibition event, it doesn’t count toward their official ATP head-to-head record.
"I am seeing you more than my family" - Carlos Alcaraz to Jannik Sinner

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner’s most recent official meeting came in the final of the 2025 US Open, where the Spaniard lifted the trophy and avenged his Wimbledon loss. During his victory speech, Alcaraz joked about their frequent encounters, saying he was seeing Sinner more often than his own family.
"I'm seeing you more than my family," Alcaraz said.
The Spaniard continued:
"I give 100% every day to improve, sitting down with the team to see what I can do better to beat Jannik and win these kind of trophies. Having this rivalry means a lot - it is super special for me, for him and for the people who enjoy every it single time we play."
Alcaraz began his ATP Finals campaign with a hard-fought 6-7(2), 7-5, 6-3 win over Taylor Fritz in his opening group stage match, while Sinner cruised past Felix Auger-Aliassime with a 7-5, 6-1 victory. The two are placed in different groups, but could face each other for the sixth time this year if they both advance further in the tournament.
