Madison Keys recently spoke up about a conversation she had with husband and coach Bjorn Fratangelo in the buildup to their first wedding anniversary. Keys and Fratangelo's romance began in 2017, with the couple announcing their engagement in March 2023. On Saturday, November 23, last year, the lovebirds tied the knot in a wedding ceremony in Charleston, South Carolina.

According to Keys, Fratangelo acted quite coy when she reminded him about their one-year wedding anniversary recently. The 2025 Australian Open champion said she won't get anything for her husband if he isn't particularly interested in celebrating the special occasion. However, the World No. 7 minced no words as she made it clear that she expects a gift from Fratangelo.

"I asked him what he wanted to do for our anniversary. He said, We're doing that? The positive for me.I told him that I'm definitely doing it. If he doesn't want to do it, then I won't buy him anything. But I'm expecting a gift for my one-year anniversary. We'll see what happens there," Keys told reporters at a pre-tournament press conference ahead of her 2025 WTA Finals campaign.

Madison Keys went on to share her experience of being married for almost a year, saying that despite the couple being quite busy, it's been fun overall.

"One year of marriage has been interesting. We've been very busy. We haven't really slowed down since we got engaged. But it's been really fun. To achieve what we have achieved has been really special to be able to do it together," she added.

Keys finds herself placed in the Serena Williams Group alongside Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina and compatriot Amanda Anisimova. In fact, Keys and Swiatek are set to play the very first match at this year's edition of the year-end tournament on Saturday, November 1.

Concerningly for the 30-year-old, she hasn't played since her shocking first-round exit from this year's US Open, while all other players to have qualified for the WTA Finals have been in action at recent competitive tournaments on the Asian hardcourt swing.
