Taylor Fritz wasn't in a mood to entertain his vacation choices being quizzed by John Isner and other American pros. The World No. 6 was living it up in Japan for the past week with his girlfriend, Morgan Riddle, and his friends. He was posting regular updates about his adventures in Tokyo and other cities.

Fritz's choice of his holiday destination was in stark contrast to what his fellow top players preferred. Many of his peers, including Jannik Sinner, Aryna Sabalenka, Alexander Zverev, among others, opted to relax in the tropical paradise of Maldives.

Isner, who hosts the Nothing Major podcast along with Jack Sock, Sam Querrey and Steve Johnson, also noticed Fritz's departure from the current established norm of unwinding in the Maldives. They made a separate post on Instagram discussing the same, and even tagged Fritz in the post.

"Taylor Fritz is in Tokyo, no one knows why. I'd love to know that. What is he doing?" Querrey asked.
"Not an exhibition right? He's not getting paid," Isner said.
"You don't know. He's tagging the Four Seasons," Querrey said.
"Maybe he had to go there and do something," Johnson stated.
"But he like put in time for relaxation or something in Tokyo," Sock said.

"Who knows? We'll get to the bottom of this. I will have an answer hopefully by next week's pod," Johnson added.

Fritz wasn't impressed by this, and felt that they were making a mountain out of a molehill. He left a comment on their post, stating he just wanted to enjoy his time off after a gruelling season.

After letting his hair down in Japan, it was back to the regular grind of tennis for Fritz. He took part in an exhibition event, though the friendly contest didn't go his way.

Following his sojourn in Japan, Taylor Fritz was back in the United States for the Charlotte Invitational 2025. The exhibition event took place on Thursday, December 4, at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Venus Williams, Madison Keys, and Frances Tiafoe were the other participants.

Keys upstaged Williams to win the women's singles match. Fritz and Tiafoe went toe-to-toe after that, and the latter eventually sneaked past the former to win the showdown 4-6, 6-4, 10-8.

Fritz will now continue to enjoy the rest of the off-season, and also commence his training for the upcoming season. He will begin the new year by participating in the United Cup, where he will aim to win back-to-back titles with his team.
