Keys reached the final round-robin match, where she was scheduled to lock horns with Elena Rybakina. However, the American had to withdraw from the WTA Finals because of illness. She was replaced by the second alternate, Ekaterina Alexandrova. Following this run, she went into her off-season and is currently enjoying her downtime.

Recently Keys appeared in the latest episode of 'The Player's Box.' She sat down with Jessica Pegula, Jessica Brady, and Desirae Krawczyk to discuss various aspects of her career, including the coaching changes. Revealing various reasons behind the switches, she said: (22:42 onwards)

"I think sometimes it's been hard to find a coach that wants to do more than like 10 weeks, which seems like a lot of weeks for people who are traveling. But in the tennis world, like that's not really covering anything. Especially when you start trying to think about training weeks. And when I was younger, I would go to where the coach was and trained there. But then it was really hard for me because I was never home," said Madison Keys.

"So, as I've gotten older, I've kind of made it I would like to be home a little bit more. So, if I do have to travel for a coach, it's just a handful of weeks. And that kind of limits your options even more. So yeah, sometimes it's been a mutual like they want to start a family or they want to be home with their kids more. Other times it's been because I've had a few cuckoo coaches," she added.

Two notable coaching changes that Madison Keys has had in her career are Jim Madrigal and her husband, Bjorn Fratangelo. She hired the former in 2018, and after working with him for almost five years, they parted ways in 2023. The American later hired Fratangelo in the same year, and after a year of working together, they got married in 2024.

During her 2025 Australian Open campaign, Fratangelo sat for a press conference. He revealed the tough conversation he had with his wife at the end of the 2023 season, which worked as a wonder for her.

"It was just kind of, like, 'How much do you want to get out of this? Are you happy with staying 11 through 25? Do you want to try to push for more? What do you want? You're almost 30 years old,'" said Madison Keys' coach.

Fratangelo added that he has great observation skills about the things happening in a match. Opening up about how he would advise Keys accordingly, he said:

"Something that I bring to the table is I have a very good eye for what's going on inside the match at all given moments and I'm able to kind of adjust the game plan on the fly. "I think I've been able to bring that to her game, where I can see things a little bit quicker than she can."

Madison Keys won two titles in the 2025 season, including the Adelaide International and the Australian Open.
