Carlos Alcaraz recently played at the 2025 Miami Invitational exhibition event, where he locked horns with Brazilian teenage sensation Joao Fonseca. Another Brazilian, soccer legend Ronaldo, whose reported net worth is $160 million (as per Celebrity Net Worth), was in attendance for the event. Here, Ronaldo, an avid tennis enthusiast, hit with Alcaraz, but it apparently left him seeking medical attention in the aftermath.
On Thursday, December 11, the 49-year-old, widely regarded as one of the greatest soccer players of all time, took to his Instagram Stories and shared two posts. The first was a video showing him hitting with Carlos Alcaraz at Miami's LoanDepot Park, which hosted the exhibition event. The two-time Ballon d'Or winner captioned this post:
"10' playing with @carlitosalcarazz 🥎🥎🥎"

The second post was a picture of Ronaldo sitting with a rather dejected expression on his face. The picture also showed the 49-year-old's right shoulder all strapped up, clearly indicating that his hitting session with the reigning World No. 1 and six-time Major champion left him with quite a bit of pain. This post was captioned:

Carlos Alcaraz comes out on top against Joao Fonseca in Miami

The eagerly-awaited encounter between Joao Fonseca and Carlos Alcaraz in Miami, despite being an exhibition match, didn't disappoint. The 19-year-old Brazilian fought hard and took the match to a third-set tiebreak, where he was ultimately denied by the 22-year-old Spaniard.
Alcaraz, after winning the pair's maiden clash 7-5, 2-6, 10-8, told Tennis Channel:
"Well, it was really, really special playing with Joao. I haven’t ever played against him, so this was the first time, in this beautiful scenario. Never played in a baseball stadium before. So it was really special coming back to Miami in front of these amazing people that bring, always, a great energy. It was a great opportunity and a special moment."
Meanwhile, Fonseca delivered a rather playful take on facing Alcaraz for the first time, saying:
"Yeah, I almost got it, guys! It’s tough, he has a little bit of skill and the guy is good, the guy is really good. It’s a pleasure being here, it’s a pleasure playing against Carlos. Very thankful for Carlos, and congratulations."
The Spaniard also came out on top in the exhibition event's mixed doubles match alongside Jessica Pegula against the duo of Fonseca and Amanda Anisimova.
