Frances Tiafoe recently agreed with the legendary Roger Federer's philosophy about winning and losing after being told about it by Andy Roddick. However, Roddick himself, one of the Swiss' most fierce yesteryear rivals, couldn't wrap his head around the Swiss' philosophy.

Tiafoe featured as the guest on a recent episode of Roddick's 'Served' podcast. Here, the American former World No. 1 and 2003 US Open champion recalled a past conversation, where the Swiss opened up to him regarding his unique philosophy about wins and losses.

According to Andy Roddick, Roger Federer was able to move on from even the most disappointing losses because he liked winning more than he hated losing. Roddick, still unable to agree with the Swiss' unique philosophy, proceeded to ask Frances Tiafoe what he feels about it.

"He (Federer) goes, 'I hear these people that hate to lose. I just like winning more than I hate losing.' And I couldn't understand it. I had no idea what he was talking about. Does that make any sense to you?," Roddick said. (from 31:56)

In response, Tiafoe agreed with the philosophy that the now-retired Swiss had during his playing days, opining that he himself doesn't fear losing, but feels that winning tennis matches makes him the happiest. The former World No. 10 said:

"It definitely does. For me, I don't really have that fear. I don't really think like, 'I better not f**king lose.' I'm more like, I love winning. I love big-moment winning. I love everything about winning, and that brings out a smile in me. I love tennis, but winning is the most exciting thing. That's when the big a** smile comes out, all the reactions, all the celebrations. That's what I look forward to. I visualize those things a lot, but that's crazy that he said that."

"You want to become a master of overcoming hard moments. That is the sign of a champion… The best know they will lose again and again and have learned how to deal with it," the Swiss said.

Federer bid farewell to his tennis-playing career in an emotional send-off at the 2022 Laver Cup, where he was joined by his biggest rivals Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray.
