Iga Swiatek's compatriot Magda Linette has revealed her struggles with the hectic scheduling on tour. The Pole is currently on a six-match losing streak, including early exits in Beijing, Wuhan, and Ningbo.

Linette has had a decent season so far, chalking up 20 wins from 45 matches this year. Apart from a semifinal appearance in Nottingham, she reached the quarterfinals in Abu Dhabi, Miami, and Strasbourg.

The 33-year-old felt burnt out after a long season on tour. She highlighted taking antibiotics during tournaments and playing through illness during a few events in 2025.

Here's what Linette said during an interview with "TVP Sport"

"Yes, I did feel the burnt out especially towards the end. Throughout the season, I kept coming back and dropping out again. I had a lot of health problems; something was always untreated. I was taking antibiotics and also had mandatory tournaments, so in the back of my mind, I thought I could do it despite the illness," Magda Linette said

She also pointed out that playing too many events this year without adequate preparation affected her performance. One example was the Guadalajara Open, where she retired after losing the first set 6-0 to Emiliana Arango.

"In Guadalajara, I wasn't well prepared; I felt like I was in the wrong place. In hindsight, I think it was an unnecessary start, especially since I was flying to China right after. I trained well there, but in stressful and crucial moments, everything fell apart. It was a sign that I needed to stop and take care of myself,"

Linette was ranked among the top 35 players in the world at the start of the season. She will end this year outside the top 50 on tour.

Swiatek has had a good season so far. After claiming the honors at Wimbledon, she went on to win in Cincinnati and Seoul.

The Pole felt that the schedule was demanding and difficult to cope with on the WTA tour.

"I think we play too much, and the schedule is crazy. I try to divide the year into each part of the season and focus on what’s coming up, otherwise, it’s difficult." Iga Swiatek said

"After a four-week pre-season and eight day vacation, if I look at the end of December to see what awaits me in the next 11 months, it's overwhelming. It's best to take it step-by-step becuase the schedule is demanding and difficult," Iga Swiatek said via TNT sports

Swiatek dropped out of the top five for a brief period this season. She currently holds the second spot in the WTA Rankings and is one of the favourites to win the WTA Finals this year.
