Emma Raducanu and Jack Draper will team up for mixed doubles to represent Great Britain at the 2026 United Cup. It's a great start for the team with two of their best players getting together on-court despite an awkward moment at this year's US Open.

Draper had partnered with Jessica Pegula and the duo defeated team Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu in the opening round of the 2025 US Open. However, the moment that stuck out was the cold handshake at the net after the match between the Britons.

Raducanu and Draper seemed to have brushed the incident aside and announced their partnership and the first event of their 2026 season.

"Being able to play for Team GB with my team-mates is a unique opportunity and week to enjoy. It's great to be able to experience a new format on the tour, represent my country and spend a couple of extra weeks in Australia," said Raducanu (as per unitedcup.com).

The United Cup is scheduled from January 2-11 in Sydney and Perth and will feature 18 countries vying for the title. Each team will have six players, three men and three women which leaves 4 more spots to be filled in the Great Britain roster.

Jack Draper and Emma Raducanu both struggled with injury and brought an early end to their 2025 season. Draper's last outing was at the 2025 US Open where he reached as far the semifinals in mixed doubles with Jessica Pegula. However, he withdrew from singles after an opening round win over Federico Gomez due to an arm injury.

Shortly afterwards, Draper announced an end to his 2025 season via social media.

“Unfortunately the injury to my arm is something I have to rest and means I’ll be sitting out the rest of 2025,” Draper wrote on X. “It is very difficult for me to accept as I was building some incredible momentum this year and playing some great stuff.”

On the WTA Tour, Emma Raducanu competed in four events after the US Open where she made early exits. In her last showing at Ningbo Open, the 2021 US Open champion had restricted movement due to reoccurrance of her lower back injury and eventually lost to Zhu Lin in the opening round. She later shut her season down to rest and recover.

Both players will mark the beginning of the 2026 season with the United Cup in Australia.
