On Sunday evening, two shooters, a father-son duo, opened fire on people gathered for the Hanukkah event at Archer Park near Bondi Beach in Sydney. According to the officials, 15 people, including a 10-year-old girl, were killed and over 40 were injured in the mass shooting.

People around the globe condemned the Bondi Beach mass shooting, with a few, including Donald Trump Jr., blaming the Australian government. Trump Jr., a businessman and activist, shared a social media post, highlighting that the Australian government deported Novak Djokovic but not the shooter.

The Serbian was deported from the country before the 2022 Australian Open for not following the government's vaccine protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic, which drew widespread criticism from the sporting community and others.

Donald Trump Jr. reshared the post on X and wrote:

"Amazing Tweet. So sad. So true."

Meanwhile, according to the officials, one of the two shooters was killed by the police, while the second was apprehended injured. Police later confirmed that it was a terrorist attack on the Jewish community, and added that the shooters were linked to the Sydney-based Islamic State (IS). The Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, called the terrorist attack "an act of antisemitism" and promised to tighten the gun laws.

Nick Kyrgios also reshares the social media post comparing Novak Djokovic and Bondi Beach mass shooter

Meanwhile, Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios also shared the social media post highlighting the comparison between Novak Djokovic and the Bondi Beach mass shooter to target the Australian government.

Kyrgios, who lost the 2022 Wimbledon singles final to Djokovic, reposted the post originally published by the former NBA player Andrew Bogut on X. The retired Australian basketball player took a dig at the government in his post, writing:

"Australian Gov - Keeping you safe."

Notably, on his return to the court earlier this year, Nick Kyrgios partnered with Novak Djokovic to play the doubles at the Brisbane International. Despite their on-court rivalry, the players hold respect for each other. The former World No. 13 even came out to support the 24-time Grand Slam winner after the latter was deported during the 2022 Australian Open.
