The podcast posted a moment from one of Collins' past matches on clay, where, after securing a point, she gestured as if putting the smoking away as if her racket was a gun. The story read:

"Happiest of birthdays to the legend Danielle Collins."

Collins reposted the story on her Instagram, where she thanked all "gay men" and her therapist. She wrote:

"I’d like to thank my therapist and all the gay men for helping me getting to 32."

In October last year, Collins announced that she would be returning to the tour in 2025, thereby taking back her decision to retire due to health and fertility challenges.

“The DANIMAL story has not reached its conclusion,” wrote Collins at the time.

After losing to Iga Swiatek at the 2024 Australian Open, she decided to retire, sharing that she was looking forward to starting a family.

“I think society and even the people who follow my life closely have had a difficult time accepting the fact that I’m retiring, and it’s really bizarre!” she said back in May 2024. “I’m going to be 31 at the end of the year, and that’s around the time when people make that milestone! It’s like, give me a break! Let me retire and have a family in peace!”

In 2025, Collins reached the fourth round of the Miami Open, where she was the defending champion. She was defeated by Aryna Sabalenka. In the Credit One Charleston Open, where again she was the defending champion, her title defense ended in the quarterfinals against Jessica Pegula. At Wimbledon, she was eliminated in the third round and in the US Open, she lost in the first round to Jaqueline Cristian.

Danielle Collins absent from 2026 Australian Open entry list

Danielle Collins will not compete at the 2026 Australian Open since her name is missing from the official women’s singles entry list for the season-opening Grand Slam.

The American star is currently ranked No. 64 and she was a finalist in Melbourne Park in 2022 and last year she even reached the third round. However, it appears she won't be in Melbourne Park in January.

In her last Grand Slam appearance at the 2025 US Open, she paired with Christian Harrison and reached the semifinals of the mixed doubles draw.
