Coco Gauff's longtime best friend, Jamilah Nicole, reached the final of the Louisiana Indoor Open with her doubles partner, Baylen Brown, before they suffered a heartbreaking loss. They defeated the pairing of the Netherlands' Coco Bosman and Klara Veldman. In the final, they went down against Spain's Celia Cervino Ruiz and Italy's Valentina Losciale 6-3, 6-3.

After the final, Jamilah went to Instagram and posted a photo with her doubles partner from the court. They were holding the runners-up trophy, and in the caption, she wrote:

"One ankle sprain later #15k finalist 🥈"

The W15 event in Lousada, Portugal, took place from November 17 to 23, 2025, o a hard court surface. Brown and Nicole defeated Mariana Franca (POR) and Ashleigh Simes (AUS) in the first round with a score of 7-5, 6-2. In the quarterfinal, they overcame Ana Filipa Santos (POR) and Indianna Splink (GBR) in a thrilling three-set match: 3-6, 6-3, (10-8).

Jamilah, 23, is currently No. 538 in the WTA Doubles rankings. Her career-high ranking was No. 514. That's a big leap, considering that just a year ago she was outside the top-1000. On clay, Gauff's friend holds a 10-11 record, while on hard surfaces, she is 14-12. In 2025, she won one title at W15 Orlando, Florida.

Jamilah Nicole and Coco Gauff continues to stay in touch

Jamilah Nicole and Coco Gauff go way back. The two first met at a tennis academy and spent their junior years together in Florida. Over the years, Gauff exploded to become a top WTA star, requiring her to participate in tournaments all around the world.

Despite the enormous travel, Gauff has made efforts to stay connected with her childhood friend. Three years ago, the duo reconnected and enjoyed each other's company by going to a football match and other activities like dancing in pajamas.

Recently, when Gauff won the Wuhan Open, Jamilah celebrated her achievement in the comments section, writing:

"😍😍😍 yessssss," to which Coco replied, "love you bestieee."

Similarly, when Jamilah has achieved something in her career, Gauff is right there celebrating his best friend through social media.
