Coco Gauff has made a bold claim comparing women and men's Tennis ahead of the WTA finals. The American will join seven more women's tennis players this week at the prestigious event in Riyadh -- eight of the best in the world fighting to be crowned the crème de la crème of the season's biggest champions.

Alongside Gauff, the French Open champion, are three more Grand Slam champs from 2025 -- Australian Open champ Madison Keys, Wimbledon champ Iga Swiatek, and US Open winner Aryna Sabalenka.

This year, the WTA saw four different winners at the four Majors, starkly different to what transpired on the men's side. There, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner shared the four between them, with the former taking the French Open and the US Open while the latter won Wimbledon and the Australian Open.

Personally, Coco Gauff believes that what the women are doing is more exciting for fans, making for a more competitive season and keeping multiple possibilities open. The American made it clear that she did not want to 'diminish' the importance of the Alcaraz-Sinner rivalry that has charmed many a fan, but felt men's tennis could benefit from having a new competitor alongside them.

"Yes, I think it's great that there are four different champions, because all the girls have had a very competitive season throughout the year. That makes the sport more exciting, with multiple possibilities and so many things can happen," Coco Gauff said in her press conference in Riyadh (via Marca).

"In the case of Carlos [Alcaraz] and Jannik [Sinner], although they're both doing very well, it's said that it would be good to have a third contender to make it even more interesting. Personally, I think it's better to have several champions at the same time, although I don't want that to diminish their rivalry," she added.

Gauff, in the round robin league, will begin her WTA Finals campaign against compatriot Jessica Pegula on Sunday, 2 November.

In the same press conference, Coco Gauff also gave Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner their flowers, saying that their rivalry is 'very positive' for tennis as a whole, even if she would not want the same dominance in women's tennis personally.

"What they're doing is also very positive and exciting for the sport. But, in the long run, as a fan, I find it more exciting to watch a semifinal or a quarterfinal without knowing who's going to win," Coco Gauff said.

Like Gauff, Alcaraz and Sinner have also booked their spots in the year-ending ATP Finals. Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev will join the duo.
