Caroline Wozniacki has revealed her decision on whether she will return to the tennis court, amid her extended hiatus, during a recent podcast appearance. The American gave birth to her third child this year in January.
Wozniacki initially retired from tennis in 2020 after the Australian Open. However, she came back in August 2023 and competed at the Canadian Open in Montreal. She was last seen in action at the 2024 US Open, where she got bested by Beatriz Haddad Maia in the Round of 16. Months after that showdown, the Danish player announced her third pregnancy in April 2025.
Wozniacki and her family welcomed the third child, Max, in July 2025. Ever since her 2024 US Open campaign, the 35-year-old has been on hiatus. Recently, she revealed her potential comeback to the sport. She appeared on one of the latest episodes of the Nothing Major Show, where she was asked about her return to the sport by John Isner. Replying to this, she said:
"No. No. I think that's a no. If it was up to David, he's like, 'You have a frozen ranking. You can play some of the big events,'" said Caroline Wozniacki. (50:08 onwards)
Caroline Wozniacki opened up about how her husband David Lee influenced her decisions on tour
In the aforementioned podcast, Caroline Wozniacki also weighed in on her pre-match rituals and her connection with her husband, David Lee. Calling the former NBA star 'high-maintenance,' she revealed how he influenced her decisions during her tournaments.
Revealing the superstitions that Lee enforced in Wozniacki's routine during her matches, she said:
"David was high maintenance. This is a funny story. So, in Australia when I won the Australian Open in the second round, I was down 5-1 and the second. I was down a set and 5-1 and 40-15, she was serving. I was down match points. I ended up winning the match somehow turning it around, winning it and since that day, David is like, okay, so the night before matches, we always have to go to Coco's, you know, the Japanese restaurant. He was kind of forcing me to go.
"And then after your match, we always have to go to the steakhouse. So then that became the routine of David always saying, all right, the night before your matches, we always have to eat at the same place." (23:17)
Caroline Wozniacki exchanged vows with Lee in June 2019 and gave birth to their first child, Olivia, in June 2021. A year later, they welcomed their second child, James, in October 2022.
