Auger-Aliassime lost to Jannik Sinner in the final of the Paris Masters prior to the ATP Finals. The Italian handed him yet another loss at the start of the year-end championships, beating him 7-5, 6-1. In a must-win match against Ben Shelton, the Canadian staged a comeback to score a 4-6, 7-6 (7), 7-5 win. He beat Alexander Zverev 6-4, 7-6 (4) in his final match of the group stage to make the semifinals.

This will be the eighth career meeting between Alcaraz and Auger-Aliassime. The latter won their first three matches, and hasn't won a match since then. Alcaraz has turned the rivalry on its head by winning their last four encounters. He won their most recent meeting at the Paris Olympics 2024 with a dominant score of 6-1, 6-1.

Auger-Aliassime's resurgence since August has been incredible. Four of his six losses during this period have come against Sinner. Alcaraz has been on fire for most of the season, and his debacle at the Paris Masters was the exception and not the norm. With two in-form players set to collide, fans are in for a treat.
