Carlos Alcaraz finished the year as the World No. 1 despite losing to Jannik Sinner in the final of the ATP Finals held in Turin. In the offseason, he is relaxing in the Maldives and even met with former Argentine tennis player Juan Martin del Potro there.
In the latest update, Alcaraz shared a relaxing morning update from his breakfast table. In the picture, a mobile was kept horizontal on the table as Alcaraz was watching the game of the local football club, Real Murcia. Alcaraz added a heart emoji, after mentioning the team's official Instagram account, suggesting he was supporting them.

On Wednesday, the Spanish football club hosted Cádiz CF in the Copa del Rey (Second Round). Real Murcia won the match, 3-2. The home side was up by 3-0 before the halftime break, thanks to scoring from the trio of Alek Schalk, Pedro Benito, and David Vicente. The visitors stormed back with goals from Youssouf Diarra and Dawda Camara, but Real Murcia held them off in the end.
Why is Carlos Alcaraz rooting for Real Murcia?
Carlos Alcaraz was born in El Palmar, Murcia. Thus, Real Murcia is a hometown club for him and football in Spain is deeply rooted.
There have been several instances when the World No. 1 has shown his support for the football club. In June, he was spotted wearing a Real Murcia CF jersey before a practice session. He also wore it over his training gear at Roland Garros. He often uses his social media, as he did on Wednesday, to share his thoughts on the club.
Alcaraz was also honored by his hometown's tennis club, Real Murcia Club de Tenis 1919, with their Golden Badge of Honor in November. Club president Antonio Saura said (via Tennis Tour Talk):
"An honor to present the Golden Badge to a player like him, someone we’ve seen grow up on our courts and who is an extraordinary role model for everyone who loves this sport.”
During an interview with CLAY this year, he spoke about his affection for football:
"What I like about football is that you can have a home for a long time... "Footballers (…) usually always end up going home to sleep. We have to go from hotel to hotel, week after week, and we can’t get used to where we are. I’d probably take that from football."
Apart from Real Murcia, Alcaraz is also known to be a big supporter of Real Madrid.
