Carlos Alcaraz recently spoke up about facing criticism on social media and how it affects him. According to the Spaniard, for the most part, he doesn't take negative social media comments seriously. However, he admitted to being affected by them following some past losses.
Currently in Turin, Italy for his 2025 ATP Finals campaign, the six-time Major champion was recently asked about his thoughts on the criticism he faces from people on social media. Here, the 22-year-old said:
"There are losses I honestly don’t care about the negative comments. Do things right or wrong, you'll still get negative comments, from true fans or haters." (translated from Spanish)
However, subsequently, Carlos Alcaraz revealed that after "certain losses" in the past, the criticism that came his way did affect him adversely.
"We try not to pay much attention but there have been certain losses where some negative comments do end up affecting you," the Spaniard added. (translated from Spanish)
"It was difficult for me to deal with it" - Carlos Alcaraz's 2024 confession about dealing with social media toxicity

Following his third-round win over Felix Auger-Aliassime at the 2024 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, Carlos Alcaraz stated that his focus is always on producing solid performances on the court instead of being mentally affected by negative social media comments. The Spaniard said:
"It was difficult for me to deal with it, but I [am] trying to stay away for everything and trying to, you know, enjoy the court. I think that's the most important thing for me. You know, as I said many times, I'm a guy that see a lot of the phone, and I see a lot of comments that the people give to you."
Alcaraz is currently in Turin, Italy, for this year's edition of the ATP Finals, the prestigious year-end event he is yet to add to his impressive haul of 24 career singles titles. The Spaniard got off to the perfect start at the tournament this time around, registering a straight-set win over Alex de Minaur from Australia in the Round Robin phase.
At the time of writing, Carlos Alcaraz is playing his second Round Robin stage match against Taylor Fritz from the USA. The Spaniard's hopes of finishing the year as the World No. 1 very much depend on how he finishes at the tournament and also on the fate of his rival Jannik Sinner at the very same event.
