Ben Shelton's girlfriend Trinity Rodman "disappointed" over NWSL rejecting her multi-million dollar deal, reveals soccer star's agent

Ben Shelton's girlfriend, Trinity Rodman's future in the NWSL might have already ended after the latest decision by the league’s commissioner, Jessica Berman. In order to retain Rodman, the Spirit proposed a four-year contract with over $1 million per season.

That would have made it the highest contract in NWSL history. However, Berman vetoed the deal, saying it was against the "spirit" of NWSL rules, given its hard salary cap rules.

This has reportedly left Rodman "disappointed," as revealed by her agent Mike Senkowski on CBS Mornings.

"You know, she's disappointed. She really wanted to go back and play in D.C. in front of the fans, continue to work with Michele Kang, and be a part of the league. Right. You know, the one thing I can say that's a little bit different from maybe your experience is the game of football. Global soccer football has leagues all around the world. Right. And so if you get rejected in one league, you can certainly go somewhere else," Senkowski told CBS Mornings.

Her agent also revealed that Rodman has better deals than the one Spirit offered, including those from European clubs and one from a domestic rival, DC Power of the USL Super League.

"I can tell you she has greater value than the deal she signed with the Spirit that was rejected in Europe. She even has a greater deal within the U.S. in another league," her agent added.

NWSLPA filed a grievance after Ben Shelton's GF Trinity Rodman's potential deal with Spirit fell apart

NWSL Commissioner Jessica Berman has voided the multi-year deal between the Spirit and Trinity Rodman, as it was allegedly against the spirit of hard salary cap rules in place.

“Our goal is to ensure that the very best players in the world, including Trinity, continue to call this league home,” a league spokesperson said via FOS. “We will do everything we can, utilizing every lever available within our rules to keep Trinity Rodman here.”

In response, NWSL Players' Association (NWSLPA) filed a grievance, arguing that the proposed deal, which was vetoed by the league, was compliant with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA). Therefore, the NWSL had no business vetoing the deal and hurting Rodman's free agency in the first place.

“If the NWSL can interfere with Trinity Rodman’s free-agency rights, they can interfere with anyone’s,” NWSLPA executive director Meghann Burke said via FOS. “We won’t stand for that.”

Ben Shelton's girlfriend, Rodman, faces a decision of staying in the US and earning less or going to Europe or some other place where she gets paid handsomely.
