Alexander Zverev and Jannik Sinner recently bumped into each other aboard a flight. Zverev subsequently shared the moment, revealing that both he and Sinner are headed to the Maldives. The German also playfully brought up the popularity of the Maldives among tennis players, with several other high-profile names in the sport having visited the scenic South Asian island nation to relax in the brief off-season.
On Sunday, November 23, the World No. 3 in men's singles tennis took to Instagram and shared a story. It featured a picture of him sitting with a grin on his face inside a plane alongside No. 2 Sinner, who smiled for the camera. Tagging the Italian, Zverev captioned the post:
"I guess it's maledives (sic) season for everyone hu? 😂😂"

On the ATP side, Daniil Medvedev and Tallon Griekspoor have been spotted vacationing in the Maldives already this year. From the WTA side, reigning No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, Belinda Bencic, Marketa Vondrousova, and several others chose to visit the picturesque island country to unwind before beginning their preparations for the 2026 tennis season.
Coming back to Alexander Zverev and Jannik Sinner, the ATP Tour rivals faced each other on the court just days ago at the year-end ATP Finals, where the fortunes of the German and the Italian couldn't be more contrasting.
Alexander Zverev fell in Round Robin phase at ATP Finals; Jannik Sinner successfully defended year-end crown

Alexander Zverev was far from his best at this year's edition of the ATP Finals in Turin, Italy, where Jannik Sinner was the defending champion. Even though the German, a two-time former champion at the tournament, began his campaign with a straight-set win over Ben Shelton, he subsequently suffered losses to Sinner and Felix Auger-Aliassime. These results saw the World No. 3 crash out of the event.
Later, reflecting on his inconsistent displays in 2025, Zverev told reporters at a press conference:
"For me, an incredibly unsatisfying season. The tennis season is long, you have a lot of ups and downs. For me, there were not many ups. I think for me, the Australian Open final, Munich as you mentioned. Everything else, I'm very unsatisfied."
Meanwhile, the Italian, who entered the event as the No. 1, secured progress to the semifinals. Sinner eventually reached the final, where he dispatched year-end World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets, capping off yet another memorable outing in Turin.
