She claimed another WTA 1000 title in China just a month before her first WTA Finals appearance in Riyadh. In the Round Robin phase, she began with a shaky loss to in-form Elena Rybakina before going the distance in her next two group stage matches and grinding out a win against Madison Keys and Iga Swiatek.

In the semifinal, she faced World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, a rematch of their US Open final. The result, however, was similar, as the Belarusian claimed victory. After the match, the finalist praised her opponent's performance.

"Honestly, I wouldn’t care if I would’ve lost this match, because I think we played an incredible match and both of us deserve this place in the finals... That was an incredible fight and I’m super happy to get the win," Sabalenka said (via WTA).

Anisimova will take a well-deserved break after finishing 2024 with a 48-17 record and career-high World No. 4 ranking. Meanwhile, Sabalenka will face off against Rybakina in the final of the WTA Finals.
