Lorenzo Musetti is a rising star in tennis who is consistently referred to as the "star of the future" by numerous critics, supporters, media, and legends. Musetti turned pro in 2019 and made his ATP Tour debut in 2020. Lorenzo Musetti was a finalist at the 2024 Queen's Club Championship, where he lost to Tommy Paul in the final match. He reached the semifinals at the 2024 Stuttgart Open, losing to Matteo Berrettini. At the 2024 Monte Carlo Masters, he secured his 100th career victory with a win over Taylor Fritz. Musetti was defeated by Lloyd Harris in five sets in the first round of the Australian Open in 2023. Musetti triumphed over Novak Djokovic, Luca Nardi and Miomir Kecmanovic at the 2023 Monte-Carlo Masters to advance to his second Masters quarterfinal. However, he lost to Jannik Sinner in straight-sets in the quarter final. Musetti fared well at the French Open, defeating Mikael Ymer, Alexander Shevchenko, and Cameron Norrie all in straight sets. However, he lost to world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz in the round of 16.

Before the 2023 Wimbledon, Musetti reached the quarterfinals on grass in Stuttgart and Queen's Club, where he was defeated by Holger Rune and Frances Tiafoe respectively. Musetti won in straight sets against Juan Pablo Varillas and Jaume Munar to go to the third round of the 2023 Wimbledon, however, he lost to Hubert Hurkacz in the third round.

Prior to the 2023 Wimbledon, Musetti reached the quarterfinals on grass in Stuttgart and Queen's Club, where he was defeated by Holger Rune and Frances Tiafoe respectively. He also achieved his career-high ranking of No. 15 in the world in mid 2023.
