Third seed Leolia Jeanjean will take on Polona Hercog in the semifinals of the Quito Open 2025.

Jeanjean kicked off her run here with a comfortable 6-1, 6-2 win over Eva Vedder. She didn't break a sweat in the second round either, scoring a routine 6-3, 6-3 win over Sada Nahimana. She was up against fifth seed Veronika Erjavec in the quarterfinals.

Jeanjean snagged a break of serve to go 3-1 up, only for Erjavec to negate her lead. She turned up in the intensity once again, nabbing three games in a row to take the first set. The Frenchwoman was unstoppable in the second set, dishing out a bagel to score a 6-3, 6-0 win.

Hercog needed three sets to get past Sara Sorribes Tormo in her opener. She rallied from a set down to topple second set Oleksandra Oliynynkova in the second round. She took on Elvina Kalieva for a spot in the semifinals.

Hercog raced to a 5-1 lead in the opening set. Although she failed to serve out the set on her first attempt, she didn't make the same mistake twice and got the job done on her next try. She was all over her opponent in the second set, conceding only one game in it for a 6-3, 6-1 victory.

Jeanjean has been in great form this week, having made the last four without losing a set. She has also dropped her serve only once across her last three matches. She has a 43-30 record this year and reached four finals, including at last month's WTA 125 tournament in Colina.

Hercog was out for six months following the Australian Open due to an injury. After back-to-back three-set wins, she played her best match of the week to dispatch Kalieva in the quarterfinals. Her semifinal run in Quito has become her best result of the season. She improved her record for the season to 8-9 with her latest win.

Given their overall results this year and performances this week, Jeanjean will be the heavy favorite to win this showdown. Hercog is slowly rediscovering her form, although that may not be enough to stop the Frenchwoman on this occasion.
