Jessica Pegula will take on Elena Rybakina in the first semifinal of the WTA Finals in Riyadh on Friday.

The American is chasing her fourth title this year, having triumphed in Austin, Charleston, and Bad Homburg. Pegula has performed well in Riyadh. After a hard-fought win over Coco Gauff, she lost a close three-set match against Aryna Sabalenka. She then defeated Jasmine Paolini 6-2, 6-3 to seal her last-four spot.

Elena Rybakina has also had a good season so far. Apart from title-winning runs in Ningbo and Strasbourg, she reached the semifinals in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Washington, Montreal, Cincinnati, and Tokyo.

Rybakina has been excellent in Riyadh so far. She has not lost a match, registering wins over Amanda Anisimova, Iga Swiatek and Ekaterina Alexandrova. The seventh seed outfoxed Alexandrova 6-4, 6-4 in her final group match.
