Jannik Sinner vs Alexander Zverev preview

Defending champion Jannik Sinner will take on third seed Alexander Zverev in the group stage of the ATP Finals 2025.
Sinner commenced his title defense against Felix Auger-Aliassime. The two matched each other shot for shot for most of the opening set. However, when push came to shove, it was the Italian who gained the upper hand.
With Auger-Aliassime serving to force a tie-break, Sinner secured a break of serve to take the set. He sprinted towards the finish after that, conceding only one game in the second set for a 7-5, 6-1 victory.
Zverev was up against fifth seed Ben Shelton in his first match of the group stage. The German was all over his younger rival in the first set, breaking his serve twice to take a one-set lead.
With neither player conceding any ground during their service games in the second set, a tie-break came into the picture. Zverev fended off three set points in it, sweeping the last five points of the match for a 6-3, 7-6 (6) win.

Jannik Sinner vs Alexander Zverev prediction

Sinner didn't face a single break point during his win over Auger-Aliassime. It also marked his fourth win over the Canadian this year. He struck 16 winners against 13 unforced errors, and won 89 percent of his first serve points.
Zverev found himself in a sticky situation towards the end, but raised his level to get past Shelton. He had a good day on serve, facing zero break points and winning 84 percent of points on the back of his first serve. He also hit 18 winners compared to 10 unforced errors.
Sinner is currently on an 11-match winning streak, dating back to his triumph at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna. He has also beaten Zverev twice during this period. He handed the German a 6-0, 6-1 beatdown when they crossed paths at the Paris Masters, although the latter was nursing an injury back then.
Sinner has a 15-4 record against top 10 players, and all four of those losses have come against Carlos Alcaraz. The Italian is a different beast when competing on hardcourts, going 35-3 on the surface this year. His current form makes him the firm favorite to win this match.
