Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner concluded their 2025 rivalry with the latter clinching the ATP Finals title on Sunday, November 16. Alcaraz, however, walked away with the ATP Year-End No. 1, but Sinner bagged more in total prize money in 2025. The Spaniard missed out on $2.36 million in prize money after his latest loss against the Italian, and a total of $8.87 million due to his three losses against Sinner in 2025.
Alcaraz and Sinner have separated themselves from the rest of the field in ATP singles in the last couple of years, sharing the World No.1 ranking, the last eight majors, and two season-ending ATP Finals events. Carlos Alcaraz won eight ATP singles titles in 2025 and won a total prize money of $18.8 million. Jannik Sinner claimed six ATP singles titles and won the highest $19.1 million in total prize money this year.
Notably, in the head-to-head battle, Alcaraz defeated Sinner four times out of six meetings this year, all in the finals. But to everyone's surprise, Sinner earned more prize money than the World No. 1 in 2025. The 2025 US Open champion also cost the six-time Grand Slam winner $8.87 million in prize money with his three wins this year. Let's find out how:
Sinner defeated Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final and earned $4.06 million in prize money. The Spaniard settled for the runner-up's prize money of $2.06 million, losing $2.00 million due to his loss in the third major of the season. The Italian's latest win at the ATP Finals further cost the Spaniard $2.36 million. Sinner earned $5.01 million in Turin to surpass his rival in total prize money earned on the ATP tour in 2025. Carlos Alcaraz walked away with $2.70 million at the season-ending event, losing another $2.36 million due to his second loss against Sinner on the tour this year.
Meanwhile, before the ATP Finals, Jannik Sinner had defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the Six Kings Slam 2025 final. Sinner defended his title at the money-laden exhibition event in Riyadh last month. The World No. 2 clinched a whopping $6 million in total prize money, while Alcaraz earned $1.5 million as a participation fee. Alcaraz's loss to Sinner at the Six Kings Slam cost him $4.5 million. So, three defeats against Sinner in 2025 cost Alcaraz a total of $8.87 million in prize money.
Carlos Alcaraz edges Jannik Sinner in big titles race in 2025
Carlos Alcaraz's four wins over Jannik Sinner on the ATP Tour in 2025 also helped him earn the prestigious World No.1 title. Sinner managed to earn more prize money, but Alcaraz claimed more titles, edging out his rival in the big titles race (Grand Slams, Masters 1000, and ATP Finals) this year.
Sinner won the Australian Open, Wimbledon, the Paris Masters 1000, and the ATP Finals, making it four big titles in 2025. Alcaraz narrowly led the race by winning the French Open, US Open, and three Masters 1000 titles in Monte-Carlo, Cincinnati, and Rome, making it five to Sinner's four big titles in 2025. However, Sinner is only three titles behind Alcaraz's career total of 14 big titles as he successfully defended the season-ending event in Turin.
Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz also won three ATP 500 titles, one more than Jannik Sinner this season.
