Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner were hands down the most dominant players on the ATP Tour in 2025. When both of them competed in the same tournament this year, either one of them always walked away as the champion.

Other players were only able to claim big titles when Alcaraz and Sinner were sidelined for one reason or another. Their duopoly on the tour is reminiscent of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal's dominance in the mid to late 2000s.

At the moment, Alcaraz and Sinner are lacking a third contender to challenge them like Novak Djokovic, who disrupted Federer and Nadal's control over the tour. With the two youngsters posting yet another successful season, here's a quick comparison of their results in 2025:

Carlos Alcaraz compiled a career-best 71-9 record in 2025, and captured eight titles from 11 finals. Jannik Sinner, on the other hand, posted a solid 58-6 record, and claimed six titles from 10 finals.

Alcaraz had a slow start to the season, winning only one title, at the ATP 500 in Rotterdam, in the first three months. He left the "Sunshine Double" events at Indian Wells and Miami without a title for the first time since 2021. However, an underwhelming start motivated him to stage an impressive turnaround.

Alcaraz didn't lose prior to the final of his next nine tournaments, winning seven titles in the process. He defended his French Open crown, and hoisted the winner's trophy at the US Open as well. The Spaniard also bagged the Masters 1000 titles in Monte Carlo, Rome, and Cincinnati, along with the ATP 500 titles at Queen's Club, and Tokyo.

Sinner started the year with a successful title defense at the Australian Open. However, he was out of action for three months after that. He was suspended because of his positive doping test from a year ago. It didn't take him too long to resume his winning ways, going all the way at Wimbledon. While he failed to secure a trophy in America, he was back on top in Beijing.

An injury forced Sinner to retire from the Shanghai Masters in the second round, where he was the defending champion. He capped off the year in style by sweeping three titles on the trot. He kicked off his run with a title at the Vienna Open, and followed it up with triumphs at the Paris Masters and the ATP Finals. He could've had a better win-loss record if he wasn't sidelined due to his ban.

Jannik Sinner narrowly beats Carlos Alcaraz when it comes down to their results at the Majors. The former posted a 26-2 record at the Majors, which translated to a 92.85 percent winning rate, while the latter put together a 24-2 record, with a 92.30 percent winning rate.

Both of them won two titles each, alternating this year's spoils between them. The Italian had the last laugh at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, while the Spaniard reigned supreme at the French Open and the US Open.

However, Sinner also reached the finals of the Majors that he didn't win. Alcaraz finished as the runner-up at Wimbledon, and bowed out in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. The Italian became the fourth and the youngest man in the Open Era to reach all four Major finals in a single season.

Fans had to wait a while to see a showdown between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner on account of the latter's three-month ban. However, their rivalry heated up once the Italian returned to the tour.

The Italian Open marked Sinner's first tournament following the conclusion of his ban. He didn't show any signs of rust from his time off and advanced to the final, where Alcaraz awaited him. The latter came out on top to win their first duel of the season. It also marked his fourth consecutive win over the Italian, dating back to his victory at the Indian Wells Masters 2024.

The two met a few weeks later in the championship round of the French Open. The match was an instant classic with numerous momentum shifts. Sinner was on the cusp of victory, holding three championship points on Alcaraz's serve in the fourth set. However, the Spaniard staged a memorable comeback to win in five sets.

Sinner avenged that loss a month later in the Wimbledon final, and brought an end to Alcaraz's two-year reign at the venue. They crossed paths twice in the US, contesting two finals. The Cincinnati Open final ended on an anti-climatic note due to Sinner's retirement in the first set, while Alcaraz beat his rival in four sets to win the US Open.

After five meetings in the span of four months, they didn't bump into each other until the end of the season. Their final encounter took place at the ATP Finals, and once again a title was on the line. Sinner was the defending champion, and beat Alcaraz in two tight sets to claim the title. Thus, the 2025 edition of their rivalry finished 4-2 in Alcaraz's favor. He also leads their overall head-to-head 11-6.
