Top seed Novak Djokovic will take on qualifier Yannick Hanfmann in the semifinals of the Hellenic Championship 2025.

Following a first-round bye, Djokovic kicked off his run in Athens with a 7-6 (3), 6-1 win over Alejandro Tabilo. He was up against sixth seed Nuno Borges in the quarterfinals. With neither player making any inroads on the other's serve in the opening set, a tie-break came into the picture.

Djokovic easily outclassed Borges in it to take the set. While the second set was fairly competitive, the Serb needed only one break of serve in his favor to wrap up a 7-6 (1), 6-4 win.

Hanfmann came through the qualifying rounds to book his spot in the Athens main draw. He beat Ivan Ivanov 6-4, 6-2 in his opener, and fought past Vit Kopriva 6-2, 5-7, 7-5 to reach the last eight. He was up against Marcos Giron for a place in the semifinals.

A closely contested first set went down to the wire. Hanfmann came out on top in the ensuing tie-break to take a one-set lead. A solitary break of serve in the second set sealed the deal in the German's favor, securing a 7-6 (3), 6-4 win.

Djokovic picked up his 37th win of the season by beating Borges. He's yet to concede a set this week, or even drop his serve for that matter. After being pushed to three sets by Kopriva, Hanfmann raised his level against Giron in the previous round. He didn't face a single break point, and won 88 percent of his first serve points.

Hanfmann has advanced to his first semifinal of the season, as well as his first since last year's Chengdu Open. He also improved his record at the ATP level to 12-12 with his latest win.

Djokovic has a perfect winning record against Hanfmann, although the latter made him work hard in their most recent showdown at last month's Shanghai Masters. The Serb rallied from a set down to get the better of his younger rival.

The 24-time Major champion is bidding to reach his third final of the season, and his first since winning the Geneva Open in May. A win would put him one step closer to a 101st career title. Given how he has played all week, he will be favorite to reach the championship round.
