Anna-Lena Friedsam will square off against home hope Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah in the quarterfinals of the Open de Limoges 2025.

Friedsam kicked off her run in Limoges with a routine 6-3, 6-2 win over Katarzyna Kawa. She was up against seventh seed Zhang Shuai in the second round. The two players split the first couple of sets between them. Friedsam upped the ante in the decider, conceding only one game in it for a 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 win.

Rakotomanga Rajaonah beat fellow Frenchwoman Jessika Ponchet 6-4, 6-2 to reach the second round, where former World No. 11 Anastasija Sevastova awaited her. The opening set almost slipped out of Rakotomanga Rajaonah's hands after she failed to serve it out. However, she snagged another break of serve in the 12th game to claim the set.

Sevastova fought back to clinch the next set and take the match into a deciding set. The two were evenly matched for most of the third set, until Rakotomanga Rajaonah raised her level with a three-game run to win the match 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.

Both players were pushed to three sets in the previous round but prevailed in the end. This has been a breakthrough season for Rakotomanga Rajaonah, and she will be keen to end it on a high as well. She claimed her maiden WTA title at the SP Open, and also finished as the runner-up on three occasions at the ITF level.

Following a first-round exit from last week's WTA 125 in Angers, Rakotomanga Rajaonah has bounced back quite well this week. She has compiled a 38-25 record for the season so far.

Friedsam, on the other hand, has put together a 42-20 record thus far. Her only title came at the ITF level in January, and she reached another final in June. She made the semifinals in Angers a week ago. The German has momentum on her side, and despite being the lower-ranked player in this match-up, she could pull off an upset.
