"We were like the original Cynthia and Ariana" - Regina Hall dishes on her friendship with Anna Faris after wrapping up shoot for ‘Scary Movie 6’

Regina Hall raved about her friendship with Anna Faris during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight. The actress compared their bond to that of Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo who have recently starred in the film Wicked: For Good.

Regina Hall and Anna Faris recently wrapped up shooting for the sixth installment of the Scary Movie franchise, which is scheduled to release on June 12, 2026. The two have been part of the franchise since the first film, which released back in 2000 and grossed over $270 million at the box office. However, they weren't part of Scary Movie 5, which was released in 2013.

During her appearance on ET Retrospective (posted on December 2, 2025), Regina Hall reacted to her old clip with Anna Faris. She said:

"Oh wow! We were like the original Cynthia and Ariana huh?"

For the uninitiated, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande have recently made headlines for their friendship moments during the promotion of Wicked: For Good. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the film was released on November 21, 2025.

One of the highlights from the press tour was when a 26-year-old intruder named Johnson Wen gatecrashed an event in Singapore and grabbed Ariana Grande. It was immediately followed by Cynthia Erivo trying to shield and protect Grande from the intruder before security escorted him away.

Wen was sentenced to nine days of imprisonment for his actions.

Anna Faris spoke candidly about her return to the Scary Movie franchise during an interview with PEOPLE magazine (published on July 19, 2024). The 49-year-old actress claimed that there were two factors that could make her return to star in the sixth installment of the franchise, i.e., the inclusion of Hall and a massive paycheck.

"I would love to work with Regina again. I just love her so much. We would make each other giggle all day long. Regina Hall would be my answer. And money. But mostly all Regina!" explained Faris.

Anna Faris also spoke about the impact of the franchise on her development as an actor, comparing it to a "bootcamp" during her early acting days.

"If there is a high school comparison for my growth experience, those four movies played an important role in my life in terms of teaching me how to use props, teaching me how to fall, how to get hit in the head - how to hold Chiclets in my mouth and then spit them out with blood at a convenient time for the camera," she added.

In an October 2022 interview with ET's Ash Crossan, Anna Faris also predicted that Regina Hall would be willing to star in the reboot for the "right paycheck."
