A billboard for the new season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians recently took social media by storm. The upcoming season, which will premiere on Disney+ this month, is based on author Rick Riordan's The Sea of Monsters. It will follow Percy Jackson on a journey to save his friend Grover, a satyr, who goes missing on his search to find the god Pan.On December 3, 2025, fans noticed a billboard advertising the show on Hollywood and Vine, which played the trailer for the upcoming season as small fountains and mists erupted from the water bed placed at the base.Towards the end of the trailer, a tentacle appeared on the screen and swiped down to reveal the logo, as a torrent of water splashed from the water bed. The installation also included a small pool at the bottom to collect the overflowing water. The billboard instantly went viral on social media, with one X user praising the show for its "insane marketing.""This is the most hydrated I’ve ever felt watching an ad. Nah, we’ll build the whole ocean.’ At this point even blockbuster movies are taking notes. However, some criticized the promotion, claiming that the show's plotline and writing were nowhere near as creative as the billboard.Selena Maris @ItsSelenaMarisLINK@DiscussingFilm Great, another wasteful, high-concept PR stunt from Disney. Instead of prioritizing a faithful script or fixing the show's numerous narrative flaws, they dump money into a physical, resource-draining, temporary billboard waterfall. Priorities are completely backward.Calculated @CalculatedNtryLINK@DiscussingFilm Don't let this be better than the series pleaseĐo @w3gioLINK@DiscussingFilm I wish the show was as good as the billboard.gracie @gracieveeveeLINK@DiscussingFilm this is so cool and there is not a single design or directional choice in the show that’s even half as interestingExploring what we know about the new Percy Jackson seasonWalker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri reprise their roles as protagonists Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and Grover Underwood in the upcoming season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.Aryan Simhadri, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Walker Scobell at the 3rd Annual Children's And Family Emmy Awards (Image via Getty)According to the synopsis on Disney's website, the second season will follow Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase into the Sea of Monsters to save Grover Underwood, captured by the Cyclops during his search for the god Pan.
