Miley Cyrus and Jimmy Kimmel recently joked about the latter's suspension when the singer appeared on the late-night talk show to promote her new song, Dream As One, for James Cameron's upcoming movie, Avatar: Fire and Ash. For the uninitiated, Kimmel was briefly suspended from ABC after his comments about Charlie Kirk's assassination in September 2025. His suspension was lifted after several people protested and boycotted Disney, ABC's parent company.

Miley Cyrus appeared on a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which aired on December 5, 2025. The singer spoke about working with James Cameron for the upcoming Avatar movie, jokingly adding that Cameron referred to them as "legends-in-law" because of their individual ties to Disney.

She also said that Kimmel might join the group soon. However, the talk show host seemed skeptical about becoming a "Disney legend," referencing his suspension and saying "nobody has cost this company more money" than him.

This led to Miley Cyrus recounting how she lost a business deal with Walmart after she was caught on camera smoking a joint as a teenager. Cyrus also added that she was happy Kimmel was back, saying:

"I smoked a joint when I had a Walmart deal and I thought they would come crawling back, they never did. I never worked with them again. Disney did pretty good, you're back. We're happy he's back."

For the uninitiated, Jimmy Kimmel landed in hot water for a comment he made on his show in the wake of conservative activist Charlie Kirk's assassination in September 2025. During his September 15 episode, he said that the "MAGA gang" was trying to "characterize" Tyler Robinson, Kirk's alleged assassin, as "anything other than one of them."

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” he said.

According to the BBC, his statement was immediately met with backlash from conservatives, with FCC chairman Brendan Carr urging broadcasting companies to "find ways to take action on Kimmel." Following this, broadcasting giants Sinclair Broadcast Group and Nexstar Media Group pulled Kimmel's show from their ABC affiliates, resulting in ABC temporarily suspending his show.

This resulted in an online discourse about censorship, with several protestors boycotting Disney and canceling their subscriptions. A week after the suspension, ABC and Walt Disney announced that Kimmel would return to the airwaves.

Miley Cyrus recently got engaged to Maxx Morando

Miley Cyrus recently confirmed her engagement to her long-term boyfriend Maxx Morando after she was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her engagement finger during the premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash earlier this week. According to the BBC, the singer spoke about her engagement when she appeared on Good Morning America on December 3, adding that her fiancé proposed to her during a trip to Asia.

"I am not easy to surprise because I love to control every situation and I had completely surrendered and I'm telling you, I was so, so, so surprised," she said.

Miley Cyrus was previously married to The Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth. The couple dated on and off for 10 years before tying the knot in 2018. They announced their divorce less than a year after their wedding in 2019. The singer began dating Morando four years ago after meeting him on a blind date.

During her recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Miley Cyrus joked that she got engaged so that Morando could open her packages after revealing a phobia of wrapping paper and cardboard. The singer said she had a "qualm with Christmas" due to wrapping paper, adding that she hated the feeling of touching paper with dry hands.

“Someone gets an Amazon box, I’m sick, because the cardboard is the worst of it all. It’s extra dry and there’s packaging within it. That’s the best part, that’s really why I got engaged because I just make my fiancé open all the packages outside,” Cyrus joked.
