Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon as part of the “Wicked Week,” Ariana Grande shared her experience of filming both parts of Wicked: For Good simultaneously. The interview, which took place on November 18, 2025, featured Grande as she described the emotional high-stakes of the shoot.

She talked about the back-to-back filming schedule that required her to embody completely different emotional states within the same week. At first, her scenes depicted Glinda as a youthful and bright student. But as the week went on, the tone shifted toward grief, conflict, and character transformation.

“It was an interesting process because Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, we’d be like, young, bubbly school students and then the second half of the week I would be processing death,” she said.

Ariana Grande stated that the emotional contrast was “jarring but necessary,” allowing for the full arc of her character but also demanding sustained emotional commitment. She admitted that by the end of long shoot days, especially toward the project’s conclusion, she often felt mentally and physically exhausted.

All about Wicked: For Good's promotional tour and the attack on Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande’s candid reflections on The Tonight Show come amid a busy promotional period for Wicked: For Good. This theatrical adaptation of the second part is set to be released by Universal Pictures on November 21, 2025.

Directed by Jon M. Chu, the film continues the story of Glinda (Grande) and Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) after the first movie. As part of the studio’s promotional efforts, NBC also aired a primetime special called Wicked: One Wonderful Night on November 6.

On November 13, 2025, during the film’s premiere at Universal Studios Singapore, an incident disrupted the promotional tour. An Australian influencer named Johnson Wen, 26, known online as ‘Pyjama Man,’ climbed a barricade and touched Grande on the red carpet.

Viral videos show Wen with his arm around Ariana Grande before being stopped by Cynthia Erivo and security. Wen later pleaded guilty to a charge of public nuisance and was sentenced to nine days in jail.

The judge described the act as “attention-seeking,” noting Wen's previous similar behavior. Cynthia Erivo also discussed the pressures of the promotional tour during a NomCom screening at the Wolf Theatre at the Saban Media Centre in Los Angeles.

“We have come through some s***,” she said. “We have come through some stuff in our lives, in our daily workings. I mean, f***, even this last week, let’s be honest.”

Erivo mentioned that it was a frightening experience but brought the cast closer together. She said that the film allowed them to grow together “as people, as friends, as sisters, as artistes, as actresses.”

With Wicked: For Good scheduled for release in November 2025, the studio continues with its planned promotional efforts.
