DJ Akademiks recently claimed that Megan Thee Stallion spread misinformation about blogger Milagro Gramz and accused the blogger of lying about not being found liable for defamation. For the uninitiated, the Hiss rapper sued Milagro Gramz, whose real name is Milagro Cooper, for defamation in October 2024, alleging that the blogger launched an online campaign to harass and defame her following her 2020 shooting incident with Tory Lanez.

Following a trial, the jury sided with Megan Thee Stallion on December 1, 2025, finding Copper "liable for defamation, promotion of an altered s*xual depiction and intentional infliction of emotional distress." However, on December 2, 2025, Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga reversed the defamation verdict because Cooper was a media defendant.

In a subsequent Rumble livestream, DJ Akademiks, who has vocally been against Megan Thee Stallion, accused the rapper of spreading misinformation about Cooper's defamation verdict being reversed. The streamer brought up one of Megan's tweets posted on December 1, 2025, in which the rapper reposted legal affairs journalist Meghann Cuniff's reports about the trial.

For the uninitiated, Cuniff's report highlighted a statement from Megan Thee Stallion's lawyers after the verdict, noting that the judge had not made a final ruling at the time. This came after Cooper's attorneys released their own statement on December 1, claiming that their client was not found liable for defamation. Megan's repost of Cuniff's report was captioned:

"Thank you… Here they go lying again AS USUAL If you want REAL MEDIA/NEWS know how to be Patient and know how to READ."

In his livestream, DJ Akademiks claimed that Megan Thee Stallion seemingly considered Meghann Cuniff as the "real media/news" because the journalist seemed to be on her side. He further spoke about the amount that Megan was awarded following the trial, which was initially $75,000 before the judge reduced it to $59,000.

"Someone has to tap Meg on the shoulder when you said you want 'REAL MEDIA/NEWS,' because you're trying to big up Meghann Cuniff, cause she's on your side. She seems to lean in your favor, and you're thinking that it's the independent creators that's fictionally trying to contort this thing to say it's 59K. I'll tell you where I got the number," Akademiks said.

Akademiks further accused Megan of believing that the people who were reporting the amount as $59,000 were "fake media," saying that his source for the information was an NBC News 6 Florida article reporting on the trial.

The article, dated December 2, 2025, stated that the jury had initially awarded Megan $75,000 and found Cooper liable for defamation, but the judge later reversed that verdict and removed the $16,000 in damages the jury awarded her for defamation.

Why did the judge reverse the defamation verdict in Megan Thee Stallion's trial?

According to ABC News, Megan Thee Stallion sued Milagro Cooper for defamation, accusing the blogger of promoting a s*xually explicit deepfake video of the rapper to her online followers. In her emotional testimony, Megan said she was "defeated" on learning about the deepfake video, adding that it caused her embarrassment.

“I feel like ... to this day, I feel a little, like, defeated. Because no matter what, no matter if the video was fake or not ... [Gramz] wanted it to be real."

The lawsuit further claimed that Cooper acted as a “mouthpiece,” a “puppet” and a “paid surrogate” for Tory Lanez, who was convicted on three gun-related charges for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. The jury found Cooper "liable for defamation, promotion of an altered s*xual depiction and intentional infliction of emotional distress," awarding the rapper $75,000 in damages on December 1, 2025.

However, the following day, Judge Cecilia Altonaga dismissed the defamation ruling as Milagro Cooper was considered a media defendant. For those uninformed, a media defendant is required to be served with a legal notice for defamation at least five days before a lawsuit is filed, which Megan Thee Stallion's legal team reportedly failed to do.

“As a condition precedent to a defamation suit, section 770.01, Florida Statutes, requires a plaintiff to serve a media defendant with written notice specifying the alleged false or defamatory statements at least five days before filing a complaint,” Altonaga stated in her final judgment.

Following the judge's ruling, Cooper's legal team stated that their client "prevailed" on the rapper's leading defamation accusation in a statement obtained by ABC News, adding:

"Cooper ultimately prevailed on Ms. Pete’s leading accusation, defamation, and the jury awarded a nominal amount of damages compared to millions of dollars Ms. Pete demanded from Ms. Cooper throughout the course of the litigation."

Meanwhile, Tory Lanez is currently serving a ten-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot after a party at Kylie Jenner's home in Hollywood in 2020. The rapper was found guilty of gun-related charges connected with the shooting during a trial in 2022 and was sentenced in 2023.
