Your season-long team may be out of the playoff race, and you need another way to get your fantasy fix. There’s no better way to get the juices flowing than playing DFS on a Sunday slate. For this article, I’ll be using DraftKings' main slate pricing to give my thoughts on the plays for Week 14.
Quarterback:
Expensive - Matt Stafford ($6900) @ ARI - Great bounce back spot for Stafford and the Rams coming off a loss to the Panthers last week. It’s indoors, which greatly impacts the LA offense. Two of the last three quarterbacks to face the Cardinals have thrown for three touchdowns in a game. We’ll need that plus more to get there at this price point.
Stafford doesn’t run, so he has to throw four touchdowns to come through. Stafford is the second-highest priced QB on the slate. You’ll likely want to run a Stafford double stack with Davante Adams ($7700) or Puka Nacua ($8700), but at those salaries, you’ll be hard-pressed to build a solid lineup.

Mid-Tier - Bo Nix ($6100) @ LV - The Raiders defense is awful. Their numbers are skewed lately because they played against Justin Herbert, who broke his hand, and Shedeur Sanders, who plays like both his hands have fallen off. Nix hasn’t thrown multiple touchdown passes since Week 9. His legs, though, do give him upside that we like in DFS. I’d stack him with Courtland Sutton ($5600), Pat Bryant ($3400) or RJ Harvey ($5700) and the Broncos D/ST ($3900).
Cheap - Tyrod Taylor ($4900) vs MIA - Miami allows the seventh most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. The appeal of Taylor is that he’ll likely be in a trailing game script, and he can run. Last week, Taylor ran for 44 yards and a touchdown. You can game stack this with De’Von Achane ($8800) and Taylor’s new toy, Adonai Mitchell ($4600). Mitchell will be a popular play thanks to his price after last week's 102-yard performance.
Running Back:
Expensive - James Cook ($7800) vs CIN - This is a dream matchup. The Bengals are barely competitive against running backs. They rank first in points allowed to running backs. Cook is the Bills' offense at this point. They can’t throw the football, and if they are going to keep up in a shootout with Joe Burrow, it’s going to be on the legs of Cook.
The Bills gave Cook 35 touches last week. If we can get to 25 this week, it’s going to be a smash play. I’d love to have Cook in my lineups as he’s scored 18+ PPR points in three straight games. Cook is a good receiver, and that’s an area that can be exploited against the Bengals. Four backs have caught five or more balls on Cincy this year.
Mid-Tier - RJ Harvey ($5700) @ LV - You can do whatever you want against the Raiders. Harvey should have no problem putting up season-best numbers in Week 14. Vegas was just ripped for 126 yards by Kimani Vidal. Running backs have reached double-digit points against the Raiders in all but two games this season. Harvey will need to score as he doesn’t get an obscene volume of touches, but that shouldn’t be a problem this week.
Cheap - Devin Neal ($5100) @ TB - Now, it’s hard to run on the Bucs defense, but Neal isn’t sharing any touches. Week 13 saw the rookie handle 81% of all running back snaps and, more importantly for a game the Saints could be losing, played 100% of long down and distance snaps. If Neal can score a touchdown and collect 5+ catches, he could pay off at this price point. We’re looking for 10-12 points. It’s not a major ask.
Wide Receiver:
Mid-Tier – Chris Olave ($6500) @ TB – I’m feeling a shootout in Tampa this weekend. Olave has 20 targets over his last two games. Tyler Shough has really locked onto Olave and aided him to scoring 14.7, 16, and 24.4 points in his last three.
This week should be a game in which the Saints will have to throw 35+ times. The Bucs are bottom-12 in points allowed to receivers. WR 1’s against the Bucs in the past month have logged 7, 11, 5, and 10 receptions. I fully expect Olave to match his Week 8 performance, where he snagged eight balls for 63 yards.
Cheap – Adonai Mitchell ($4600) vs MIA – The new Jets top target has speed to burn and a quarterback who can finally sustain drives in New York. You have to be excited about a cheap receiver on a team that likely will be trailing and who saw 12 targets last week.
Mitchell ran 98% of team routes last Sunday and had a 37% target share. He’s an easy click against Miami, who doesn’t have corners who can run with Mitchell. You can play him naked and just hope he hits for a big play. His savings help open things up for other big-ticket players on your roster.
Tight End:
Expensive – Tyler Warren ($5000) @ JAX – It’s a great matchup against a Jaguars defense that is second to last in points allowed to the position. Last weekend, the Titans' tight ends caught ten passes against this defense. Warren is better than both of those Titans combined. With Daniel Jones banged up, he won’t want to hang in the pocket long. He’ll look to find his stud tight end early and often. Warren only has one score in his last five games. He needs to be a focal point of this Colts attack.
Cheap – Brenton Strange ($3900) vs IND – The tight end on the other side of this matchup has a great matchup as well. Since returning from injury in Week 12, Strange has either 90+ yards or a touchdown in each game. He’s essentially the Jags red zone threat with 13% of all end zone targets in that two-game stretch. I like Strange to eat up the zone coverage of the Jags and produce another 10+ point day.
Defense:
Broncos ($3900) @ LV is a great spot. It’s pricey, but this is a game where Vegas could throw a pick-six and take five sacks.
Commanders ($2800) @ MIN gets J.J. McCarthy, which is always a recipe for success. The Vikings' offense is broken, and McCarthy looks like a deer in the headlights.
