Garrett, who recorded a career-high five sacks in the game, slammed his helmet on the sideline as frustration boiled over. The Browns defense collapsed late, allowing the Patriots to erase a double-digit deficit and hand Cleveland another disappointing loss.

The Pro Football Hall of Famer criticized Garrett’s reaction and decision-making off the field on Sunday.

“You had your chance and you chose the money,” Allen said on Monday, via the "Up & Adams" show. “You knew what you were getting into.”

The former Vikings defensive end referenced Garrett’s four-year $160 million contract extension signed in March, which made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.

Allen also empathized with Garrett's frustration with the team and himself.

“He’s doing literally everything he can, playing at a level nobody else has played for that franchise and it’s still not good enough," Allen said. "You had an opportunity to leave, and you stayed loyal. You took the money, and now you’re frustrated with the team or frustrated with yourself.”

Garrett ranks among Pro Football Focus' top edge rushers with a 92.8 pass-rush grade. However, Cleveland has struggled to translate his dominance into wins. The team sits near the bottom of the AFC standings, and its defense is inconsistent despite Garrett’s efforts.

“I’m frustrated," Garrett said, via the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "I want to win. I don’t care how much time is on the clock. They’ve got their starters in. I hate that kind of inevitability and not being able to do anything about it.”
