Major League Baseball has been hit by a shocking betting scandal after Cleveland Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz were indicted by authorities over charges of rigging pitches during games.Ortiz was arrested by authorities on Monday while Clase is yet to be taken into custody. During an episode of the "Speakeasy" podcast, former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho slammed the Guardians pitchers, especially Emmanuel Clase, who is on a $20,000,000 contract.Acho said their plan to throw intentional balls looked very obvious when heavy bets were placed on their pitches."Athletes stop being so stupid," Acho said. "I've seen the dude's contract. I think Clase is making $20 million and you gonna blow that for $5000, a pitch? ... Not only are athletes being dumb, y'all being obvious, and you getting caught and the real dilemma to me is like they're ruining the Integrity of the game."And the other thing that's so dumb is if the point in which there is an influx of money on a bet that the first pitch in the third inning is going to be a ball, do y'all not think that the government gonna catch you? Why in the world hundreds of thousand dollars be bet on the first pitch of the third inning, being a ball, and then you go out there, and you throw a ball."And you think you're gonna get away with it and you got $20 million dollars in guarantees, you're stupid. This is the dumbest game that any athlete has played."Acho also blasted them for contacting the bettors after the game, providing evidence for their illegal activities.MLB responds to Guardian pircher's betting scandal by restricting prop betsFollowing the indictment of the Guardians pitchers on Sunday, MLB announced a $200 prop bet limit on individual pitches, according to USA Today columnist Bob Nightengale. The restriction is to stop illegal betting activities on individual pitches and stop them from being included in parlays. If Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz are found guilty of the charges, they could face up to 65 years in prison.
