Mahomes added,

"You’ve got to win every game now and hope that is enough. We are going to play a lot of good teams coming up. If we are going to make the playoffs, we are going to have to win them all. That’s got to be the mindset when we step into the building when we get back.”

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are in unfamiliar territory

The Kansas City Chiefs have been automatic in the Patrick Mahomes era. The Chiefs have won the AFC West divisional title in every season that Mahomes has been the starter.

They've also won three Super Bowls in that span, and have been the league's dominant franchise for the past decade. However, the tide seems to have shifted in the ongoing campaign.

The Chiefs (6-6) are currently third in the AFC West. They're behind Sean Payton's Denver Broncos (9-2) and Jim Harbaugh's Los Angeles Chargers (7-4). Both teams have the upper hand in the divisional title and playoff race.

The Chiefs will face off against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15. Patrick Mahomes and Co. will look to avenge their Week 1 loss against Jim Harbaugh's troops in that matchup.

Another date that Andy Reid's team will be circling is their Week 17 game against the Denver Broncos. It's a must-win game that could be the difference between a wildcard spot and no playoff appearance this season. The Chiefs lost their first game of the season against the Broncos in Week 11.

The Kansas City Chiefs are in unfamiliar territory entering the business end of the season. They need to win the remaining fixtures and hope their divisional and conference rivals lose.
