A clip posted on social media showed a group of people getting into a heated physical altercation. Amid the chaos, shots were fired by an individual, injuring Boyd in the process.

Boyd was quickly taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment. He sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen. According to the New York police department, his condition was stable but critical at the hospital.

Boyd began his NFL journey after the Minnesota Vikings drafted him with the 217th overall pick in 2019. He spent four seasons with them before joining the Arizona Cardinals in 2023. However, the cornerback was released by the team in October 2023.

So far in seven seasons, Kris Boyd has played in 81 total games and has recorded 105 tackles, three tackles for loss, and three passes defended.
