Dak Prescott will be playing with a heavy heart tonight.

On Monday, just hours before the game against the Arizona Cardinals, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback was seen seemingly praying on the field in honor of his mother Peggy, who died of colon cancer 12 years ago. At the time, he was still wearing a blue suit over a white shirt and brown suede shoes:

Ahead of the game, it was announced that one of Prescott's blockers will be returning to play: center Cooper Beebe, who has been out of action for six games because of foot and ankle injuries. He was supposed to return at the Denver Broncos last week, but the decision was withheld at the last minute. Without him, Prescott suffered eight hits, including two sacks.

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones said of Beebe's return last Friday on 105.3 The Fan:

Dak Prescott says George Pickens has made life easier on offense

There have been times when Dak Prescott had more than one dominant wide receiver. In 2020, he had Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, and a then-rookie CeeDee Lamb at the same time.

That core eventually whittled down to just Lamb and a bunch of largely anonymous players, most notably Brandin Cooks, who decided to return to New Orleans after 2024. But in the 2025 offseason, something happened that would improve the receiving department.

The Cowboys traded for George Pickens, and he has repaid the faith to the tune of 685 yards and 6 touchdowns on 43 catches. In a feature for EssestiallySports, Prescott said about him:

“He makes my job easier. From how much space he can create, how he gets open and how 50-50 balls become 70-30 if not higher. He’s a special player. That’s just the guy he is.’’

Pickens himself had this to say:

“One of the first things I learned when I got here is that Dak is a ‘timing QB.’ He needs you to be in exactly the right place, and then he’ll put the ball in exactly the right place. There’s a trust there.’’

Lamb himself also had praise for his bond with "my guy", saying he wanted "the best for him" and for "him to win".
