Troy Aikman does not believe what his former boss is saying, and he has made that clear. On Monday, the Dallas Cowboys owner said he had finalized at least one trade ahead of the deadline on Nov. 4. However, he refused to give other details other than that it would resolve some pressing issues right away:“Immediately it will have him on the field and it will address some of the things that have been our shortcomings.”However, just before ESPN's coverage of the Cowboys' game against the Arizona Cardinals on Monday, Aikman expressed doubts about Jones' statement. The former quarterback began by saying that merely trading for a player would not help the defense, which has been among the worst in the league.“I don’t know what that move is, I don’t know who it might be. I think it’s interesting that you announce there’s a trade, but you’re not going to announce who it is. What do they have to give up, and what exactly does that look like? I guess we will all be evaluating that tomorrow sometime.”Troy Aikman had called out Cowboys owner Jerry Jones beforeThat, however, is not Troy Aikman’s first time being critical of his old team this season. A few months ago, in the wake of Micah Parsons being traded to the Green Bay Packers, he questioned Jerry Jones’ purported commitment to winning in an appearance on Rich Eisen’s eponymous radio show:“I saw Jerry talk about the fact that having the Cowboys as a discussion point is meaningful to him. And if people aren’t talking about the Cowboys, then he’ll do things to stir it up. So he kind of walked into that and has given the impression that that supersedes winning.”Then, late last month, Jones admitted in an interview with The Wall Street Journal that he had been focusing lately on other ventures, such as the natural gas industry, rather than the team. Aikman lashed out at such “unorthodox” skewing of priorities on “The Musers” on Sportsradio 96.7 FM/1310 The Ticket:“It’s not the way it’s done. I think there’s probably other people that handle more of the GM duties than he does, but yeah, it was a comment that I’m sure he’d like to have back, because it doesn’t reflect well on the commitment to the football team.”Aikman spent his entire career with the Cowboys, winning three Super Bowls in the 1990s as their starting quarterback. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006.
