Skattebo was taken to a hospital in Philadelphia after an early exit from the game. He was diagnosed with a dislocated ankle that required surgery, ending his season on Sunday.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce shared his thoughts on the Giants rookie's devastating injury on the "New Heights" podcast with his elder brother Jason.

"Sending all the love to him," Kelce said. "Hopefully, he can get back, man. The NFL absolutely loves a motherf**ker like that, just a tough as nails dude. Hopefully, he gets back in tip-top shape. Big Dom DiSandro sent over some pizza and cheese sticks. I mean, the guy got a standing ovation as he was getting carted off.

"Nobody wants to see one of the most loved players in the league get hurt like that. And obviously, what that guy's been doing at the football over the past couple of weeks has been pretty f**king fun to watch, so hopefully he gets back healthy and back to running dudes over and being the epitome of a f*cking NFL football player."

Skattebo has emerged as a fan favorite along with fellow rookie Jaxson Dart, who was visibly frustrated after the running back was carted off the field on Sunday.

Giants rookie Cam Skattebo's injury is worse than previously thought

New reports have emerged about Cam Skattebo's injury, suggesting the Giants' rookie's setback is worse than previously thought. According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Skattebo also sustained a fibula fracture and a deltoid ligament rupture.

Skattebo underwent surgery to close his wound on Sunday night and was discharged from the hospital the next morning. Dr. Guillem Gonzalez-Lomas, an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, gave insights on the procedure in a conversation with the NY Post.

“The fact that he had surgery (Sunday) night probably tells us that they felt it was very time sensitive," Lomas said. "If you were able to get the ankle back in place, sometimes you would let the swelling go down for a week or two before proceeding with the definitive treatment.”

According to reports, Skattebo is expected to rejoin the team in the offseason and could resume football activities in July.
