Craig Carton rips into Chiefs TE over "disinterested" attitude after loss to Texans

Craig Carton went all guns blazing while criticizing Travis Kelce after the Kansas City Chiefs' 20-10 loss to the Houston Texans at home on Sunday.

On Monday's episode of his eponymous show, he said that the veteran TE looked like he was "done" with his NFL career and should hang up his cleats. Carton then criticized Kelce's attitude for acting like a sore loser and skipping the post-game media availability.

"Travis Kelce clearly is done," Carton said. "He's done. I'm sorry to say, Hall of Fame career, Travis Kelce, half the time looks disinterested. The other half of time, when he gains five yards, he's pumping up his chest and he yells, and he's in your face and is a jacka**. ... And a guy who's lived for those moments, ... was a no show last night. Not just on the field.

"That's one thing when you stink on the field. Kelce had a single catch last night. ... His career ends on that play. Don't matter what he's done the last couple of games of the season. The Chiefs are done. And you'd think a guy who has enjoyed a relationship with the media, you'd think a guy that has been vetted by the media, you'd think a guy who has had his a** kissed to KC and back by the media would at least have the back bone and stones and manly DNA to show up to press conference after the game.

"But Travis Kelce, I hate to say this, ... acted like a b***h. Travis Kelce's a h*e. Because for all the time you've spent enjoying your relationship with the a** kissing, brown nosing media, ... and then you duck the media afterwards. You ain't nothing but a h*e."

Against the Texans, Kelce recorded just one reception with eight receiving yards. In the fourth quarter, he made a costly mistake after fumbling a pass from Patrick Mahomes that resulted in an interception and a field goal conversion a few plays later by Ka'imi Fairnbairn.

Stephen A.Smith shares his honest thoughts on Travis Kelce's future with the Chiefs

Travis Kelce is in the final year of the two-year extension he signed in April 2024. On Monday's episode of ESPN's "First Take," Stephen A. Smith said that the veteran TE will retire after the end of the 2025 season, judging by his horrendous performance against the Texans.

"You're going to get a new tight end, because I think Travis Kelce is going to retire, and you've got to show up at the offensive line outside of that," Smith said. "I mean, this is probably the end for him. I think we all knew that. I think we all knew he just came back because of the way they went out in the Super Bowl against the Eagles. That's the only reason I think he came back this year. I think this is it for him, and so you got to replace him."

The Chiefs' playoff hopes are in jeopardy after Sunday's loss. They are placed third in the AFC West with a 6-7 record and a two-game losing streak.
