The Chiefs tight end talked about his matchup with the Colts cornerback on Wednesday.

"I finally got my one-on-one with my dog," Kelce said, via the "New Heights" podcast.
"That's all I wanted. I just wanted one on one. And the ball went, like, to the field, and there was. I felt like I kind of got open. I'm just saying, I think Pat if he would have came back to me, we would have had a completion. That's all I gotta say. No, man, I had so much respect for Sauce. Man, fucking love that guy."

They also faced each other in 2023 when Gardner was with the New York Jets, swapping jerseys after the game. Gardner recorded seven tackles in the 23-20 overtime loss to Kansas City. Kelce amassed four receptions for 43 yards and rushed once for a one-yard gain.

Kelce and Gardner played for the Bearcats in different eras. The tight end was part of the program from 2008 to 2012, catching 59 passes for 722 yards and 10 touchdowns across 35 games.

Travis Kelce heaped praise on the two-time NFL MVP following the win. He mimicked the quarterback while addressing the media.

"Ah man, you just believe, you just believe every snap," Kelce said. "He's our fearless leader, man. That guy's the most competitive human being I know and we love him for how he leads this team on the field, in practice, and throughout the week. Right now, he's steering us to victory, and it's amazing."

Kansas scored a touchdown and converted a two-point attempt in the seventh minute of the fourth quarter. Harrison Butker kicked a field goal with no time left to force overtime. The Chiefs kicker converted a 27-yard field goal to secure the victory.
