According to NFL insider Mike Garafolo, they already have a replacement in mind. Reports suggest that the Colts are looking to bring back Philip Rivers out of retirement.

"Sources told me and @RapSheet: The #Colts are planning to bring in QB Philip Rivers for a visit tomorrow after Daniel Jones' torn Achilles. This is real, dadgummit. Out of action since 2020, the potential future Hall of Famer is exploring an NFL return," Garafolo tweeted.

"It's insulting that anyone believes a 44 year old Philip Rivers has any juice left after being retired for 4+ years. We do realize quarterbacks are still athletes, right? Has he been training? I bet he fails his physical. I'm reminded when Austin Rivers stated and truly believed that 'NBA players can play in the NFL,'" another fan said.

Philip Rivers began his NFL career with the San Diego Chargers back in 2004. He joined the Colts in 2020 and spent a season with them before retiring in January 2021. Back in July, the veteran quarterback signed a one-day deal in order to retire as a member of the Los Angeles Chargers.

Daniel Jones suffered a torn Achilles injury during their 36-19 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. He sustained it during the first quarter of the game while making a pass on the field and will miss out on the rest of the 2025 season. Jone was replaced by Riley Leonard for the rest of the game, who completed 18 of 29 passes for 145 yards and no touchdowns.

Colts coach Shane Steichen shares his thoughts on Daniel Jones' injury

During Monday's press conference, coach Shane Steichen said that the injury to Daniel Jones was an unfortunate one.

He expressed his disappointment while hoping that the quarterback makes a quick recovery.

"Obviously, just really feel for him," Steichen said. "Just an unfortunate situation. "The work that he puts in, the effort on a day-to-day basis, the grind, a team captain for us- just very unfortunate. One of the toughest guys I've been around. So, just praying for a speedy recovery."

Daniel Jones signed a one-year deal worth $14 million with Shane Steichen's team back in March. Before his injury, the quarterback tallied 3,101 yards and 19 TDs passing.

The Colts are currently placed third in the AFC South behind the Texans and the Jaguars with an 8-5 record and a three-game losing streak.
