Rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been issued a warning ahead of his first NFL start. The Colorado alum is set to get his first NFL start next Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders. However, the Raiders' defensive coordinator, Patrick Graham, has sent a warning to the 23-year-old.Graham addressed a worrying habit that plagued Sanders’ debut against the Baltimore Ravens during a press conference on Friday. Against the Ravens, the quarterback tended to drift back in the pocket and conceded sacks for massive losses amounting to 27 yards combined. The Ravens' defensive coordinator noted that the habit is common with young quarterbacks, but warned Sanders against it when he faces Las Vegas. He said:“You can check it. All young quarterbacks think that’s the move. … You can do that, but the monsters are back there. I’m sure Coach Stefanski, Coach Rees are working on stepping into the pocket. But all young quarterbacks tend to do that.”Shedeur Sanders had an uninspiring debut, where he completed four of 16 passes for 47 yards and an interception. He was sent in in the second half of the game to replace an injured Dillon Gabriel. Gabriel has remained on concussion protocol ahead of the Week 12 matchup against the Raiders.Sanders has had to wait for so long for a playing opportunity after getting overlooked multiple times in favor of Joe Flacco and then Gabriel. Many are seeing this as the moment for Sanders to make a case for himself to be the team’s primary quarterback.Shedeur Sanders pledges to be “the guy” at quarterback for the BlacksShedeur Sanders has committed himself to earning the franchise quarterback tag and ending a quarterback curse that is seemingly afflicting the Browns. Ahead of the challenge, he declared:“I would be doing a disservice to myself and a disservice to the organization if I don’t feel like I am the guy. I’m doing everything I need to prepare to be the best version of myself possible.”The Browns are 2-8 going into Sunday’s game, with a desperate need for an answer in the offense. Many fans are hoping this answer will be Sanders under center. The quarterback showed flashes of brilliance during the preseason when he threw for 138 yards and two touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers. It is not yet clear if the rookie quarterback will remain the starter when Gabriel returns.
