Jason Whitlock discussed Lane Kiffin’s exit from Ole Miss, but not without slipping in criticism for Shedeur Sanders. The former sports columnist shared his disappointment about Kiffin leaving the Rebels and took a shot at Sanders for being protected from scrutiny.

"Things I'm allowed to say without much blowback: Lane Kiffin has botched his exit from Ole Miss. Terrible look and I was rooting for Lane. Thankful he's not LaShedeur Kiffin. It would be illegal to criticize him," Whitlock tweeted on Sunday.

Kiffin is expected to accept the coaching job with the LSU Tigers following the regular season. His new contract could reportedly be worth $12 million per season over seven years, making him one of the highest-paid coaches in college football.

The timing of the decision has stirred internal unrest at Ole Miss. The Rebels just completed an 11-1 regular season and will likely participate in the College Football Playoff.

Kiffin reportedly pushed Ole Miss to allow him to coach through the postseason despite his upcoming move. However, team officials expressed concern that a coach bound for another program should not lead the Rebels in the playoff.

Meanwhile, Sanders has shown flashes of potential as the Browns' starting quarterback but continues to be criticized for his off-field behavior.

Shedeur Sanders says he’s “not comfortable” as he tries to secure long-term starting role with Browns

Shedeur Sanders made it clear on Wednesday that his starting role for the Cleveland Browns is far from secure. He said he understands the pressure on him and the need to prove himself each time he steps on the field.

“I’m definitely not comfortable, though, so that’s first and foremost that I have another opportunity to go out there,” Sanders told reporters. “But in life, you got to understand how quickly things come or how long it comes, it could be taken at any point in time.”

He emphasized that his approach remains focused on growth and improvement.

“So I’m never comfortable in a situation I’m in," Sanders said. "I always want to exceed expectations, and I always want to grow in each and every week, I would want to put a better product of myself, be a better version of myself for the team to be out there.”

The Browns are looking for their fourth win of the season against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
