Fans on social media were not happy with the veteran tight end's mistake. They heavily criticized Kelce, with some also trolling and taking a jab at his engagement with 14-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift.

"Travis Kelce is so washed and a loser that he didn't even come out for the last drive. Just go retire, marry Taylor and be Mrs Travis Swift," one fan commented.

The Chiefs were trailing the Texans 17-10 in the fourth quarter with just over three minutes before the final whistle. During a second-and-10 play, quarterback Patrick Mahomes lobbed a pass down to Travis Kelce.

However, the veteran TE fumbled the catch, which resulted in an interception. Texans placekicker Ka'imi Fairbairn then converted a 28-yard field goal attempt to seal the victory for his team with a 20-10 final score.

Kelce ended the night completing eight receiving yards on one interception. Patrick Mahomes completed 14 of 33 passes for 160 yards and no touchdowns. The Chiefs are now 6-7 with their playoff hopes slowly fading away.

In the postgame press conference, Patrick Mahomes did not blame the veteran TE for dropping the catch that resulted in a turnover.

According to reporter McKenzie Nelson, the three-time Super Bowl champion took some of the blame for not making a good pass to Kelce.

"Patrick Mahomes says Travis Kelce makes that play 99% of the time. Says Kelce is a champion and he could have thrown the ball better in that situation. 'I know we'll give it everything we have and give ourselves a chance and see what happens.'" Nelson tweeted.

The Chiefs next face the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
