The Detroit Lions defeated the Dallas Cowboys 44-30 to improve their positioning in the NFC playoff hunt, while also ending their opponents' three-win streak. However, it was not without controversy.

In the first quarter, a potential safety off a Dak Prescott sack was overturned, but it would not be the last controversial call of the game. In the fourth quarter, Jake Ferguson failed to catch a pass as Alex Anzalone and Brian Branch covered him. He was called with offensive pass interference, something that Chase Daniel disagreed with:

Prescott fell back to mediocrity, completing 31 of 47 attempts for 376 yards a touchdown to Ryan Flournoy, and a two-point conversion to Ferguson against two interceptions. Javonte Williams rushed 12 times for 67 yards - his first time reaching quadruple digits in a season - and a touchdown, while Brandon Aubrey hit five field goals.

For the Lions, Jared Goff completed 25 of 34 attempts for 309 yards and a touchdown to rookie Isaac TeSlaa. But the most offensive damage came from running backs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery, who combined for 103 yards and four touchdowns on 18 carries. Jake Bates, meanwhile, made three field goals in four attempts.

Lions HC Dan Campbell praises key players after win vs. Cowboys

After the game, coach Dan Campbell took the stand to share his thoughts on the “damn good win”, as he put it.

One of the first things that he did was praise wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who managed to play and catch six balls for 92 yards despite being nearly ruled out with an ankle sprain:

"(He) is what we are...where he goes, we go. His toughness and his will power, his desire to compete, to help those guys around him, to do whatever it takes to win is second to none. He's rare, man."

That praise later extended to guard Miles Frazier, who entered the game in relief of Trystan Colon and cleared the way for Jahmyr Gibbs’ dominance:

"He earned the right to keep going."

And finally, speaking of Gibbs, Campbell had this to say about him:

“He’s unique. He’s special.”

The Lions will next visit the Los Angeles Rams on December 14. Kickoff is at 4:25 pm ET on Fox.
