Cincinnati Bengals wideout Ja'Marr Chase made headlines for all the wrong reasons in his team's 34-12 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 12 on Sunday. In the fourth quarter, Chase spat on Steelers cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who then punched the Bengals star and was ejected for throwing hands at an opponent.
On Wednesday, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce offered his take on Chase spitting at Ramsey.
"The last person I remember spitting in the NFL was Bill Romanowski," Kelce said on his "New Heights" podcast. "Now, all of a sudden, we got three spitters. We got people just spitting left and right. What are we doing guys? ... I guess it's probably good practice to just not encourage reactions. And I mean, listen, you get spit on, you'd like to think you'd be able to hold your composure, but dude, that's just like, such a disrespectful, disgusting thing to do.
"I don't like that. This has now become a thing. I think that we need to do our best as NFL players to not continue this trend, because it's just not appropriate."

Earlier in the season, Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter was fined for spitting on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott in Week 1. On-field cameras showed that Prescott's saliva initially landed near Carter, which led to the Eagles star spitting back.
However, Prescott denied that he was trying to spit at Carter. The Cowboys QB was not fined for the incident.
Ja'Marr Chase set to miss Bengals' Week 12 clash vs. New England Patriots for spitting suspension

On Monday, the NFL issued a one-game suspension for Bengals star Ja'Marr Chase for spitting on Ramsey. Chase had initially denied spitting on the Steelers star, but cameras caught him in the act.
The Bengals (3-7) will face the New England Patriots (9-2) in Week 12 on Sunday. The game will kick off at 1 p.m. ET from Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio, but Chase won't be in action given his suspension.
