Shedeur Sanders gave an interesting response to the media when asked about the current quarterback situation with the Cleveland Browns. Throughout his conversation, Sanders did not respond verbally to any question, miming his answers.A video clip of his interview went viral, and his father, Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders, responded to it by writing:"Good 1 son. You did that."On Thursday's edition of "First Take," Chris Broussard believes that this comment was not the best one to make in this situation."this is a misstep. There is no other way to look at this and think this was good. The context is essential, and in this case, it is that Shedeur Sanders is fighting for his football career. The fact is, every team in the league passed on him multiple times, and the team he's on, he's third string, and they just had an opportunity second, and they were like, No, we're not doing that… It's not going to endear him to anybody. Shedeur has kind of misplayed the last nine months and the draft process, so has Deion. When Deion came out before the draft and was like, ‘He's only going to certain teams. I'm gonna make sure he goes to the right situation. I'm gonna get involved with it,’ that obviously turns some teams off and then supporting this. This is a misstep by Deion and Shedeur."The initial reaction from Shedeur was seen by many as being immature and something that someone who wants to be a starting quarterback of an NFL team should not do.Deion's comments essentially tell everyone that he is fine with his son behaving like this, even finding the whole situation amusing. This will not help Shedeur (who looks up to his hall of fame father for guidance) in the long run. This could lead to more immature responses knowing that Coach Prime will praise everything he does. These kind of responses will only put the starting quarterback role further from him, as no team wants someone immature and irresponsible as their leader.Cam Newton on Shedeur Sanders' place on the BrownsFormer NFL quarterback Cam Newton spoke about Shedeur on the latest edition of his "4th&1" podcast. Here, he gave his theory on Sanders' place in the Browns roster."This is my conspiracy theory about the Cleveland Browns... Shedeur Sanders is extremely talented and well and capable of being a player in the NFL. But I do not think a lot of teams are willing to risk what's mounting in circus-like attention that he brings naturally. So therefore the Browns are stuck with this idea, if we cut Shedeur that would be bad for business. Business being, he's good for business on our roster. If we cut him, he's going to be picked up by somebody. When have we ever had a person on our roster to move the needle?... The Cleveland Browns have never had a player in modern day that pushes the needle like Shedeur Sanders."The truth is that, whatever one's thoughts about the quarterback, the Browns still see him as the third-string quarterback. However, there will be a day when Sanders will be able to start for the team. It is only then that we will find out his place in the NFL.
