Sophie Cunningham has a theory on why the Chiefs are struggling this season. The WNBA star said Kansas City's dynasty run created the problem that's biting them.
Cunningham, who plays for the Indiana Fever and won the 2025 WNBA Commissioner's Cup, hosts the "Show Me Something" podcast with West Wilson.
"You think if you went to the championship four years in a row that the fifth year you'd be like a little over not over it, but you're kind of like yawn?" Wilson said (Timestamp: 10:07)
Cunningham explained that the challenge is keeping the roster intact.

"Not not over it," Cunningham said. "But I also think that when you do experience that and you don't have all the the tools that you need, you know what you're lacking. Do you kind of get what I'm saying? Like because people want to go get their money, which they totally should. They people leave and then you lose that talent."
The franchise made five Super Bowls in six years and won three rings. However, the Chiefs (6-6) are third in the AFC West and fighting for a wild-card spot after losing to Dallas on Thanksgiving.

Kansas City lost key contributors after winning back-to-back Super Bowls but Patrick Mahomes continues to be solid this season. The quarterback has 3,238 yards and 22 touchdowns, fourth in the NFL in passing yards.
"And if you don't replace it, then like everyone knows you're lacking of what got you there the past whatever years," Cunningham said.
Sophie Cunningham backed Kansas City for a Super Bowl win in November, but that prediction looks shaky with the Chiefs needing help to make the playoffs.
Kansas City will host Houston on Sunday at 8:20 p.m. ET. The Texans (7-5) have won five of their last six games and have the league's best scoring defense.
